African Brown Oil
African Brown Oil
The Yoruba people have been in West Africa for over a millennium, with a rich history that predates English colonization by several centuries. Our cultural legacy continues to influence the region and the world today. The Yoruba people have a rich and complex history in West Africa, particularly in what is now Nigeria, where they are one of the largest ethnic groups. Yoruba culture and presence in the region dates back several centuries.
African Brown Oil is my personal introduction to the rich traditions and natural remedies of my Yoruba culture.
"A single drop of this oil not only enhances the skin's natural beauty but also captures the warmth and richness of the sun, revealing a glow that transcends mere aesthetics."
Palm kernel oil and cocoa bean oil are popular ingredients in skincare products due to their beneficial properties. Here are the ways we Yoruba people have historically used these ingredients.
Palm Kernel Oil
Moisturizer: Palm kernel oil is an excellent moisturizer that helps keep the skin hydrated and soft. Its emollient properties make it suitable for dry skin.
Palm kernel oil is a perfect ingredient for making a Cleansing Agent. It is often used in soaps and cleansers due to its ability to remove dirt and impurities without stripping the skin of its natural oils.
Anti-Aging: The oil contains antioxidants, which can help combat free radicals and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Skin Barrier Support: It helps strengthen the skin's barrier, preventing moisture loss and protecting against environmental stressors.
Soothing Irritation: Palm kernel oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe irritated skin and reduce redness.
Cocoa Bean Oil
Intense Moisturizer: Cocoa butter is renowned for its rich, creamy texture, making it a perfect moisturizer for dry and sensitive skin.
Stretch Mark Prevention: It is commonly used in products aimed at preventing and reducing the appearance of stretch marks due to its ability to improve skin elasticity.
Healing Properties: Cocoa butter can aid in healing minor wounds, scars, and dry patches due to its nourishing and moisturizing qualities.
Lip Care: It’s often found in lip balms and glosses, providing hydration and a protective barrier against chapping.
Scent and Texture: The Yoruba make our oils by roasting the kernel and the oil is allowed to cold drip.
A pleasant roasted chocolate scent and a luxurious texture to skincare formulations, enhancing the overall experience.
