African Brown Oil, known to the Yoruba people as Adin, is one of West Africa’s best-kept skincare traditions. I am a Yoruba woman from Omu Ekiti, Nigeria. For more than twenty years, I have worked with village women who produce this remarkable oil using traditional methods passed down through generations. Their craftsmanship and dedication are at the heart of Omo Sade.
The journey begins with ripe red palm fruit.
The fruit is carefully boiled, and the red palm oil is removed for cooking. The remaining palm kernels are then slowly roasted over fire using a closely guarded traditional process that gives the oil its rich mahogany color and distinctive aroma. Each palm kernel is cracked open by hand to reveal the precious white nut inside. The nuts are then cold-pressed to preserve their natural richness and create this exceptional oil. Nearly one month of patient craftsmanship produces just five gallons of African Brown Oil. Nothing is rushed. Nothing of value is wasted. One of the first things you will notice is its aroma. Unlike many modern skincare products that rely on added fragrance, African Brown Oil has a scent all its own—warm earth, roasted palm kernels, hints of coconut, and subtle notes of roasted coffee.
For me, it smells like my grandmother.
It is a fragrance that brings back memories of home and of generations of Yoruba women whose knowledge has been passed from mother to daughter. Over the years, many people have suggested adding fragrance to the oil.
We never will.
Its natural aroma is part of its identity. A few drops leave the skin feeling soft and beautifully nourished while giving it a healthy, natural glow. Our Ivory Mineral Mask is made with pure bentonite clay and a generous layer of finely ground camwood, two natural ingredients long valued in traditional West African skincare. Unlike ready-made masks, ours is offered as a dry powder. Simply mix a teaspoon with water to prepare a fresh mask whenever your skin needs it. As the powder is blended, the rich camwood transforms the mask into a beautiful reddish clay. More than its beautiful color, camwood has long been treasured for the healthy-looking glow it leaves on the skin, while the bentonite clay helps soften the skin and draw away excess oil and surface impurities. For an even more luxurious treatment, the powder may also be mixed with aloe vera juice instead of water.

Our Shea Butter is handcrafted in Ishan Village using traditional methods that have been passed down through generations. Unlike many commercial shea butters, ours is never blended with palm oil or unnecessary fillers to increase quantity. The result is a naturally creamy, smooth shea butter with a soft, sweet aroma. We gently hand-whip our shea butter with sweet almond oil to create a lighter texture that glides effortlessly onto the skin and absorbs beautifully. Many people think of shea butter simply as a moisturizer. We think of it as nature’s seal.
For best results, apply to damp skin immediately after bathing. Shea butter helps reduce moisture loss, leaving the skin feeling soft, smooth, and comfortably nourished throughout the day.
